This review is for 3.5-4.5 tennis players in particular, but there are other tennis class options at the club for beginner and intermediate players.

Class I took: Drill and Play

Instructor: N/A

Location: Yorkville Tennis on 89th and York

What I liked: Wow, did I miss playing tennis. Since moving to NYC 5 years ago, I haven't been able to play here. The last time I played was a year and a half or so ago when I was visiting my hometown. This class is just what I needed to get back in the game. The first hour is drills with an instructor. The drills ranged from hitting targets to King/Queen of the court. The second hour consists of matches, singles or doubles depending on the class size. The class only allows up to 8 people and there were 6 in my class. It was great exercise, good practice, good hitting, and friendly competition.

What I didn't like: The only thing that I can say is that I wish there was at least 1 more court to play singles on for those nights when there are 8 people.

Final Thoughts: Great hitting, great competition. Need I say more?

Price: Pricey, but worth it if you are a serious player

- tennis in Manhattan at a club is expensive. I bought the 10 class package (20 hours of play). Each class breaks down to about $44, which is a better deal to me than most classes in the City.

Will I return: Absolutely! Even if I didn't like it, I would have to go back 9 more times, so thankfully it's just what I need!
